This year at The Pace Performance Funny Car Nationals we will be changing the format to determine the final pair. In the past we have taken the two quickest cars, one from the East and one from the Midwest.
For the 2016 event we will determine the finals by running on a 7.00 index, the closest two cars to seven second will run in the final round, one from the East and one from the Midwest. We will not exclude anyone that runs quicker than seven second but that will not qualify them for the finals.
The reason we have changed the qualifying methods is that the majority of the cars run in the low seven second range and by basing the finals on a 7.00 index this would make the qualifying more exciting and more unpredictable.
